Find your polling place
Your polling place is assigned by precinct and can change when district lines are redrawn. Confirm yours before every election — don’t rely on where you voted last time.
Enter your address at your county’s lookup tool to find where you vote on Election Day:
Know your options
Vote on Election Day
Polls are open 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. in Virginia. If you’re in line before 7 p.m. you have the right to vote.
Vote early in person
Virginia offers no-excuse early voting starting 45 days before Election Day at your local general registrar’s office or satellite locations. Hours vary by locality — check your county’s registrar website for the schedule.
Vote by mail (absentee)
Any registered Virginia voter may request an absentee ballot — no excuse required. Request one through the state portal and return it by mail or drop it at a drop box by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
What to bring
Virginia does not require photo ID to vote, but poll workers will ask for your name and address. Bringing your voter registration card or a utility bill with your current address can speed up the check-in process.
